What’s your morning skin ritual?

Untitled-4

Face wash & moisturizer.

Untitled-2

My morning skin ritual is fairly simple. I first wash my face with Neutrogena facewash, then I apply aleovera gel for moisture, followed by sunblock (even if I’m home).

Untitled-1

Since I cleanse my face at night, I just wash my face with Dove soap. I’ve stopped using any kind of face wash since they’re too harsh for our skin. I apply a very light moisturizer on the dry areas only and lock it in with a spray of rose water.

What’s your everyday makeup routine?

Untitled-4

I hate makeup. Haha. So, I usually avoid it. I keep my makeup bag in the car in case I have to go somewhere in which case I apply it in the car.

Untitled-2

I usually start with a tinted Sunblock, put a bit of concealer with face powder to even it out and cover shine, with some blush, mascara and lip tint.

Untitled-1Instead of applying foundation all over every day, I use a concealer wherever needed; normally under the eye or any small spot and set it with a translucent powder.  I have really light eyebrows so I fill them in with some powder and brush them with an old mascara wand to add some texture. For eyes I usually curl my lashes and apply mascara to give an instant lift and apply some blush and finish it off by dabbing some lipstick on with my fingers to create a soft lip stain.

What’s your skin prep routine for going-out makeup?

Untitled-4

Same as usual. If I’m feeling extra adventurous I put on a hydrating face mask prior to applying makeup.

Untitled-2

I start with cleanser and toner to prep my face. Then I use a light weight moisturizer and some primer.

Untitled-1

I cleanse and apply moisturizer and lip balm at least 10 minutes before applying the foundation. This allows the moisturizer to set in properly and helps in blending the foundation. I don’t use primers since it is just an unnecessary extra layer.

What makeup item is always with you?

Untitled-4

Concealer.

Untitled-2

I always carry a lip balm. There is nothing worse than dry, chapped lips.

Untitled-1

I always have a bright pink lipstick in my bag which I can use as a lip stain and build it up according to need. I also use it as blush by dabbing and blending it on my cheeks with my fingers.

Favourite foundation and Concealer?

Untitled-4

Laura Mercier.

Untitled-2

I prefer Makeup Forever’s HD and Ultra HD foundation and concealer because I feel it works wonderfully on and off screen. However, I am a huge fan of Musarrat Misbah’s MM Silk Foundation these days. It goes on so smoothly and has a great finish.

Untitled-1

I always mix foundations. My favourite foundations are Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation and Makeup Forever HD foundation. My favourite concealer is Maybelline Fit Me concealer for everyday or MAC prolonged wear.

Favorite Highlighter?

Untitled-4

Peach Nectar by Anastasia.

Untitled-2

There are so many brilliant highlighters in the market but my personal favorites are Benefit’s Watts Up and Nars Albatross Highlighting Blush.

Untitled-1

I never use one highlighter it is usually a mix of cream / liquid and powder. Watts’ up! By Benefit is a great cream to powder formula that is my current favorite.

Biggest makeup secret?

Untitled-4

A bright lipstick will light up your face.

Untitled-2

It wouldn’t be secret if I told you. Haha.

Untitled-1

Never close your eyes while applying your eye makeup. Always look down since it prevents the eye shadow from creasing and helps in avoiding wrinkles while applying liner.

All-time favorite makeup product?

Untitled-4

Blacktrack Fluidline by MAC.

Untitled-2

I love a good Kajal pencil. It’s my main go to product.

Untitled-1

Lancome Hypnose Doll eyes mascara for the perfect 1960’s eyes.

What is the most common makeup faux pas that you see women commit?

Untitled-4

The wrong coloured foundation.

Untitled-2

Wearing lighter foundation than their actual skin tone. It’s as big no no!

Untitled-1

When women TRY to change their skin tone by using the wrong shade of foundation and do not blend it around the edges of the face and jaw line and completely ignore other exposed areas like the ears and neck making it look like a mask. On top of that, they draw harsh contour lines.

At Sephora, which section will we find you at?

Untitled-4

Lipsticks.

Untitled-2

Sephora is my candy shop. I go in to buy one product, but I always end up buying more products than what I originally plan. But if I really have to choose, I’ll probably spend more time at Makeup Forever section.

Untitled-1

As much as I love makeup, I will more likely to be found at the skincare section. I think having great skin is more flattering than having good makeup on.
